HOW DO I BRING NATM2 PAPERMOTION TO LIFE?
The Papermotion targets come to life with the help of your webcam. Place the target in front of the camera to bring the scenario to life.
TROUBLESHOOTING YOUR WEB CAMERA
I am sure I installed the Total Immersion software for Papermotion correctly, but I cannot see any video or I get an error message when starting the software.
- Make sure your web camera is plugged in and is installed correctly.
- Make sure that your web camera software is turned off before starting to use Papermotion.
- Make sure the only video you should see is the video inside the Papermotion Frame.
- Papermotion (powered by Total Immersion Technology) works with most of the USB web cameras. It is not compatible with SD fire-wire camcorders.
- If you are still having connection issues, please email us at natm2support@t-immersion.com
My video is blurry or goes in and out of focus
- If your web camera has auto focus, turn it off.
- Sometimes there is a thin film over the new webcams that is placed there to protect the lens during shipping. Make sure this film has been removed.
The lighting in my web camera seems too bright/dark.
- Many cameras use auto light sensors that adjust the light based on the background. You may need to turn off the automatic setting control in your software and adjust the light in the background.
Browsers Supported
PC: Firefox 2+ and IE 6+
Mac: Safari 2 & 3
Note: Papermotion does not support the beta version of
Safari 4, Safari on PC or Firefox on Mac.
SOFTWARE INSTALLATION
Internet Explorer
During installation, I see a yellow ActiveX bar at the top of my screen and the installation appears to freeze.
- Click on the ActiveX Tab at the top of the screen and follow the instructions.
Firefox
When trying to install the application, I get a message that says “Please Close Firefox before installing”
- Make sure you have all browser windows closed. You must have the Internet Explorer and Firefox browsers closed to complete the installation.
Will I have to go through this process every time I download a player.
- No, it is only the first time you install the Dfusion plug in. Any other start-up will occur through the browser.
All Browsers
How do I uninstall the browser plug in?
- Go to All Programs->Total Immersion->Web Plug In and choose uninstall. Make sure all browsers are closed during the uninstall process. This may require you to restart your computer to complete.
- If you are still having installation issues, please email us at natm2support@t-immersion.com
SOFTWARE INITIALIZATION
The Software has installed correctly but seems to stall at the beginning of the initialization process. I have 2 web cameras plugged into my computer.
- A selection window will appear above the frame when you have multiple cameras. In order to continue installation, you must select which camera you want to use.
The software has installed correctly but seems to stall at the beginning of the initializing the software. I am positive I only have 1 camera installed on my computer.
- Ensure your Internet connection is still working.
- Make sure you are not trying to open multiple versions of the software at the same time. The software can only support one video screen open at a time.
- Restart your web browser.
I get a message that says: “Error when loading the player, please restart the application or contact support.” What do I do?
- Make sure you are not trying to open multiple version of the software at the same time. The software can only support one video screen open at a time.
- Restart your web browser.
- If you are still having initialization issues, please email us at natm2support@t-immersion.com
TARGET RECOGNITION
How close should I hold the target to get it to initialize?
- Hold the Papermotion target steady about 3 inches in front of the camera.
I’m having a hard time getting the target to be recognized. What are some tips to get them working correctly?
- Papermotion (powered by Total Immersion technology) works best with flat pieces of paper, if the image is crinkled or folded try making it as smooth as possible.
- Papermotion (powered by Total Immersion technology) targets may take a second to initialize if the image is faded, hold the target steady in front of the camera for a second to get the target tracking and then move it smoothly in front of the camera
- Hold the target like you would hold a photograph, try not to cover the photo with you hand or fingers while showing it to the web camera
- If you are still having target recognition issues, please email us at natm2support@t-immersion.com
POSITIONING THE TARGET AND OPTIMAL PLAY
- Once the target is recognized, move the target smoothly in front of the camera. Depending on the quality and speed of your web camera, moving the target too fast in front of the camera can cause the tracking of the target to be lost. It may take a couple of seconds to get used to, but after a little practice you will be able to tilt and move the target without ever losing tracking.
- Make sure there is not a lot of light reflecting off of the target and into the camera. It can make positioning the target more difficult.
- If you lose the tracking, simply put it back in front of the camera to reinitialize it.
- When placing the target on the table, move it smoothly down on to the table between 6” and 12” from the web camera. Once it’s on the table, carefully turn and adjust the camera to a location that works best for you.
- If you continue to have issues or questions about setting up the target, please email us at natm2support@t-immersion.com
